The physical nature of working with fabric and thread attracted me to the medium of textile art. Design ideas come from detailed visual information collected through drawing and painting in sketch books and these are translated into wall hangings and framed pieces. I have work in many private collections and have completed public commissions for Rotherham General Hospital, The Grange Home for Older People at Eckington and Gorseybrigg School, Dronfield. Rotherham Hospital bought one of my hangings to take as a gift to their town twinned hospital in France. I have worked for Destination Sheffield as an artist in residence in schools to help produce work for the Sheffield Children's Festival. I am a member of Art Through Textiles, a Sheffield based group and I am a founder member of Alive & Stitching, a group of 6 professional textile artists working together to put on exhibitions and trying to raise the profile of textile art. |
During the last decade I have had work exhibited at: The Cupola Gallery, Sheffield |
